Your weekly journey into deep space

27 Feb 2019,

Ahoy space people!

There’s lots going around HQ this week, especially as we now have a wrap date for MANY 2.0 and await the relocation to MANY 3. The doors at Adelaide Street will be open until Sunday March 10 so plenty of time to go grab a hat from Kate or a snip from Lisa. There’ll also be a farewell exhibition, BRB, at Smart Casual Friday 8 March from 6pm-9pm (more on that next week).

One of the many things that still inspires Spacemarket is the ability to provide a platform for small business, both to access the public and test ideas at a relatively low risk. It can be a real make or break for a new or small business to invest in four walls and all that comes with it. We hope we can take a little stress out of that.

MANY 3 will provide the same community retail experience as the MANY’s before it, but maybe this time it’ll have a twist… Regardless, if you’d like to express your interest, or if you have an idea or something you’d like to propose, please get in touch. We may also have some very cheap shopfronts popping up in Freo soon. If you’re ready to go out on your own and interested in investing in the Freo community one of these could be for you?

Always on the email, drop us a line

INTERESTING STUFF

We’ll use this section to share some tidbits we’ve come across the last week from you, our tenants, and the www.

+ Funding has not been renewed to the essential Aboriginal medical hostel, Derbarl Yerrigan, which for the past 20 years has been helping people from remote areas travelling to the city to access essential health services with somewhere to stay. This is a sad state of affairs.

+ The Fremantle Repair Cafe returns to Stackwood next month on Sunday 3rd of March. If there’s anything around the home you’d put aside to fix, then put the date in your diary “Along with an experienced volunteer repairer from the local community, you can jointly repair items such as clothing, toys, small furniture, electrical goods, bikes and more.”

+ Every day should be Clean Up Australia Day but this Sunday 3 March is the one that you hear about. There’s heaps of events being run around the city and even if you just head down to your local park or waterway and give it a quick going over, you’ll be contributing your part.

+ Melbourne artist Rone has undertaken a huge installation of his work in a rambling, abandoned mansion on the outskirts of Melbourne. If you’re heading over east between March 6 – 22 April, go check it out.

+ Lastly, a shout out to some of the new tenants we’ve welcomed into our spaces this last month!

Artist Lance Delary-Simpson at North Freo MANY

And this week we welcome Kate Flower Food, Happy Healthy and Kristen Pavez Health to Heathcote too!

We’ll bring you more from all of these guys shortly!
