Always on our minds is how many buildings seem to have vacant space and how much it does to the vibrancy, positivity and safety of a community to activate it. There seems to be space for lease at epidemic proportions throughout Freo, Perth and every suburb in between. The interesting thing however, is how many creatives are also looking for space.

If you have a space free, or know of a vacant space somewhere, do get in touch or post it on our Spacemarket WA Facebook group. We have a constant stream of enquiries from prospective tenants looking for a place to set up a shop or studio.

We are always on the hunt to dust off these wonderful disused places and appreciate every suggestion that comes from our community. Let’s work together to get these precincts buzzing again.

Ritual, There Is, Perth

+ “The WA veterans building surfboards and rebuilding lives”. This is a beaut TV segment on former-MANY resident Greg Wallace of Bodhi Tree Boards who is now providing space for returned service-people to shape and ride their own surfboards. An awesome venture by an awesome dude.

+ City of Permanent Temporality - 18 years of Interventions in Rotterdam. Looking at a long history of urban activism in Rotterdam, “City of Permanent Temporality is a journal, project exhibit and a theory for a city that is in continuous transformation, where bricks & mortar and people continue to adapt, without ever being complete. The withdrawal of governments and turbulent market forces calls for new methods of planning and design”. Look into it if you’re interested in a radical re-thinking of city-making.

+ Apply now for Verge Preparation Assistance Scheme, City of Fremantle. Freo residents can apply for this fab new scheme which includes subsidies on native plants, free mulch, free street trees and advice on landscaping and planting. Applications close 1 March

+ Arts & Community Grants, City of Fremantle. The next round of funding for CoF Arts & Community Grants opens Friday 1 March. There’s some sweet $3000 – $25,000 creative grants on offer.

We have one new space which has just come up at Heathcote. It’s a great size room and would be perfect for a painter or maker. PLus, we still have one large room that would be great for a creative studio, or bigger team of people.

MANY North Freo
We have a couple of spots available in our MANY North Freo warehouse. Rent includes three-phase power, rubbish collection, and water, AND you get to work amongst a super bunch of other local makers. Other benefits include high ceilings, great access and, a short walk over Leighton footbridge; you’re at the beach!
